From the very first days of the new year 2017, immediately after the Lunar New Year holiday, VGT urgently deployed its team to receive the first shipment of the Sun Paper Mill Project in Laos directly from the vessel arriving at Da Nang Port.
For this project, VGT was responsible for completing transit customs procedures and transporting the equipment from Da Nang Port through Lao Bao Border Gate to the project site in Sepon, Savannakhet, Laos, for final handover.
The total volume of cargo and equipment serving the construction of this project, delivered through Da Nang Port, reached more than 160,000 CBM. This included oversized and overweight equipment weighing up to 80 tons, which VGT received, transported, and handed over to the project owner, Sun Paper Company from China, at the factory construction site.
According to press reports, Sun Paper announced its plan to develop forest plantations and build the above-mentioned pulp production plant with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year. The initial total investment was USD 197 million.
